At a meeting of the Property and Finance Sub-Committee last Wednesday, Bromley Council agreed unanimously to reject the application by Biggin Hill Airport Limited to allow the continuation of the Platinum Air Charter Executive 2000 scheduled service, operating between Blackpool and Biggin Hill and for a new service proposed to operate between Biggin Hill and Paris. Furthermore, the Council also agreed that if Biggin Hill Airport Limited fail to cease the operations accordingly, then the Council will consider taking legal action.

Gordon Hayward, Director of Environmental Services said, "The Council expects Biggin Hill Airport Limited to manage the airport in accordance with the terms of the lease which was granted to them in 1994. In July of this year, the Court of Appeal clarified the meaning of the user clause in the lease. This precludes the introduction of scheduled flights as this would be outside the terms of the lease. We want to work with Biggin Hill Airport Limited to our mutual advantage, but within the safeguards of the lease."
